This is a fantastic opportunity to join our innovative fixed term 2-year apprenticeship that gives you the chance to earn while you learn!

Across the 2-year apprenticeship, you will experience all areas of Pharmacy including taster placements across the local area, develop practical skills whilst learning on the job and continue to support patients throughout their hospital experience.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will gain a formal professional qualification and will be eligible to register with theGPhC.

At UHBW, we have seen our Pharmacy Technicians develop their career in specialist clinical areas and senior management positions, all ranging from Band 4 to Band 8 - we're now looking for the future of Pharmacy for UHBW!

This year, the interview process will involve a welcome assessment centre with some skills and communication tasks, followed by a 10-15 minute interview.

Pharmacy technicians are increasingly playing an important role in supporting patients with their medicines, complementing and working with pharmacists in clinical environments.

The pharmacy technician workforce is continuing to develop and this position includes a wide range of duties to support this:
• Dispensing and accuracy checking of prescribed items
• Providing medication related information to patients and other healthcare professionals
• Medicine Optimisation duties, including reconciling patients medication, POD checks, patient counselling and being part of the wider multi-disciplinary team

Alongside this day to day work you will also get off the job training time to develop the additional skills required to be a pharmacy technician, including understanding medicines regulations and law, increasing but not limited to clinical knowledge on the use of medicines and their mechanism of actions and principals of aseptic manufacture.

Please note there are minimum academic requirements for access to this apprenticeship of 4 GCSE’s (or equivalent) A*-C/9-4, which must include Maths, English and Science (certificates will ideally be seen at interview)

Candidates must be available to start the post by 9th September 2024.
