Housing Floating Support Worker - 4 days a week!


Location: London based office/ Travel to North and East London
Hours: 30 hours per week - home working and 1 day in office

Duration: 1-2 months - potential to extend

The Role:

The Nest Project aims to enhance survivor safety and reduce incidents of domestic abuse through awareness and service provision. The Floating Support Worker (FSW) supports survivors of domestic abuse living in safe accommodation at any risk level on a needs-led basis.

As an FSW, you will conduct risk and needs assessments, safety planning, and support planning with survivors. You will advocate on their behalf with external agencies and provide ongoing casework support, including referrals to specialist advice and practical support. Your role is to empower survivors with information about their rights and options, clarify complex statutory systems, and dispel myths perpetuated by perpetrators and society. You will also support survivors in maintaining or finding permanent housing as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and provide support to survivors.
  • Manage a caseload of survivors, offering flexible, needs-led support both in person and over the phone.
  • Assist service users in developing and working towards safety and support plans.
  • Coordinate risk management with external and community agencies.
  • Collaborate with external and community agencies, offering advice and guidance on individual cases through consultations and training.
  • Represent and advocate for domestic abuse survivors at key meetings within the tri-boroughs.
  • Collect rent, charges, and other payments from clients, recording them according to procedures.
  • Ensure health and safety in dispersed accommodation, including conducting regular checks and reporting repairs.
  • Maintain knowledge of housing, welfare, and policy related to domestic abuse.
  • Possess knowledge of safeguarding for adults and children.
  • Participate in data collection and support accurate and timely reporting on service delivery targets.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all work undertaken.
  • Implement equality and diversity policies and promote an equalities and human rights agenda in all work.
  • Contribute to service user feedback and service development.
