Position: Learning Disability Consultant
Location: Working across Exemplar Health Care

Contract type: Full time
Rate: Up too £60,000 + £3,000 Car Allowance DOE

This is an exciting opportunity to join us as our new Learning Disability Consultant.

In this role, you’ll support the Head of Service in developing and delivering the strategic plan for behaviour support and learning disabilities.

You’ll also support the Clinical Team to deliver continuous improvement in quality standards, understand the root cause for incidents and give support, advice and solutions to the operational team in managing.

About the role

As a Learning Disability Consultant with Exemplar Health Care, you’ll work with colleagues in the Behaviour Support and Clinical Team to ensure the people we support with learning disabilities, autism and developmental disorders receive the best possible care.

You’ll contribute and deliver specialist training to colleagues to support continuous professional development and support the behaviour support and mental health team to offer support and reports on people who require frequent/on-going mental health and behavioural support in line with best practice.

No two days will ever be the same, but your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

demonstrating highly advanced clinical skills and expert practice by overseeing/managing a caseload of people with a learning disability and/or autism
having knowledge, training and experience in relation to the health care needs of this specialist group of people, and the ability to identify risks and benefits of new developments in area of practice and provide clinical supervision to others
working in accordance with relevant legal and ethical requirements e.g. Mental Health Act, NICE guidelines, Equality Act, Health and Safety at Work Act and appropriate codes of professional conduct and practise (e.g. NMC)
providing rapid triage service in response to people we support experiencing mental health/behavioural crisis, providing effective liaison between key stakeholders
providing wellbeing interventions, advice, and guidance and support for people experiencing complex learning disabilities and other conditions to enable them to live meaningful lives within the care home setting
completing detailed post incident investigations and support RCA reporting and ensure the follow up of recommended actions in the operational line.

About you

a Registered RNLD nurse qualfication
evidence of further professional development in relation to current learning disability initiatives care, management or quality
an understanding of the UK regulatory framework and experience working with regulators and safeguarding teams
a strong care focus
excellent written and verbal communication skills
a pragmatic approach with strong problem solving and analytical skills and ability to apply these in complex and challenging situations
ability to coach and motivate others
ability to work collaboratively across the business.
