Summary


As a phlebotomist you are instrumental to maintaining patient's confidence in the healthcare system in their hospital. You will meet a wide variety of patients in different circumstances in order to obtain venous blood samples and/or cannulate them.

We are a small, friendly dynamic team that work together to meet the needs of the trust. No two days are exactly the same and pose challenges to overcome individually and as part of the team.

You can join the team with no previous experience as we support all new staff throughout their training journey, once trained with this specialist skill you will find this job rewarding as you will make a difference to each patient that you meet.

This role will be based at the NCH hospital in the blood taking room, although there will be an expectation of cover at QEH should it be required

The role of a phlebotomist is to collect blood samples by venepuncture using specialist blood collection equipment from patients in clinical settings. Phlebotomists also assist in the Emergency Department with collection of samples, cultures and cannulation.

The post holder will work as part of a team of phlebotomists to provide efficient, cost-effective and timely clinical services to patients.

You will maintain high professional standards, professional knowledge and competency, undertaking continued professional development.
