Job Title: Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm

Salary: £85 per day

Start Date: ASAP

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school in the Wellingborough area. The successful candidate will work in a Key Stage 2 (KS2) class that includes students with special educational needs (SEN) who may display challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with SEN, both in groups and on a one-to-one basis.
- Assist the class teacher in creating and implementing individualized learning plans.
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to support and guide students.
- Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Support students with their social, emotional, and academic development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other staff members.
- Monitor and record students' progress and report to the class teacher and SEN coordinator.
- Assist with classroom activities, including preparation and clearing up of resources.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required.

Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, specifically with SEN students.
- Strong understanding of the challenges and strategies involved in managing challenging behaviour.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- A relevant qualification in education or childcare is desirable but not essential.
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
