Do you want to make a difference? Are you looking for a new and different career pathway whilst maintaining and developing clinical and research delivery skills? We have a unique opportunity for enthusiastic Band 5 Nurses or Allied Health Professionals with the appropriate skills and registration to come and join our Research Team to begin or further a career in clinical research delivery.

Working in clinical research you will join an enthusiastic, driven and caring research team, to help provide support to embedded research teams across the trust and within our dedicated NIHR clinical research facility, for new and existing studies. Our team participates in research within many different specialities across the trust such as respiratory and cancer, and in the community for example in colleges, universities and patient’s homes. There are always opportunities to gain knowledge and experience within a number of these specialities.

You will undertake a range of activities including direct patient recruitment, patient assessment, data collection and data entry. Successful applicants may be working for part of their time on these studies which may involve face-to-face clinical work with COVID-19 patients.

ABOUT THE TEAM

We have a team of around 300 Research Nurses, AHPs, Midwives and Clinical Trials Assistants, working together across the Trust, within our award-winning teams to bring exciting research opportunities to UHS for the benefit of our patients and the future of healthcare. The Research team is composed of multidisciplinary researchers from hospital and university backgrounds, embedded and working in collaboration with clinical services and teams, aiming to deliver a variety of studies to improve patient care and outcomes.

Research has been more prominent and as a team, we have contributed to national and global health outcomes through delivering a portfolio of COVID-19 Urgent Public Health studies investigating treatments, vaccines and long-term follow-up. There has never been a more exciting time to join our team.

Our portfolio of speciality research is one of the largest in the country and as a major acute teaching trust, we run a wide range of complex interventional studies investigating new treatments, devices and interventions. We also deliver observational studies gathering samples and information on disease aetiology, progression and long-term follow-up.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• Enthusiasm, self-motivation, flexibility and drive will be required to ensure the success of this post. You will be involved in all aspects of the research process from study start-up, recruitment and delivery to close out of a study.
• You will need to have an excellent level of written and verbal communication skills.
• Good IT skills are advantageous.
• You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, implementing studies to translate scientific discoveries into improved patient outcomes.

No research experience is necessary as all training will be provided by our dedicated research education team; you will undergo a comprehensive induction and full research delivery training with ongoing training in a supportive environment. We are interested in applicants with sound clinical experience and a keen willingness to learn.
