Summary


Whilst overseas visitors can access its services, for the NHS to be financially sustainable it is vital they make a fair contribution towards the cost of those services. The NHS (Charges to Overseas Visitors) Regulations 2017 place a legal obligation on NHS Trusts to establish whether a person is an Overseas Visitor to whom charges apply, or whether they are exempt from charges.

As Overseas Patients Administration Manager, you will be fundamental in assisting the Overseas & Chargeable Patients service in ensuring the Trust fulfills it's legal obligation to establish whether a patient is an Overseas Visitor to whom charges apply, or whether they are exempt from charges then recover those charges where applicable.

Assist the Administration Manager in the identification of patients who may be chargeable to receive NHS funded treatment, in line with the Department of Health and Trust policies.

Assist in the management of work streams ensuring that priorities are identified and dealt with and that problems are resolved as quickly as possible, working within Department of Health and Trust priorities and deadlines.

Liaise with external bodies to include The Home Office, Immigration Service, Police and other Hospital Trusts in the delivery of duties as necessary.

Attend quarterly Chargeable Patients Meetings arranged and Chaired by the Trust Contracting Department

Using established systems and in line with Department of Health guidance check that all patients who are newly referred or attending for a new episode of treatment are entitled to free NHS hospital treatment.

Arrange and undertake interviews with patients to clarify their eligibility for free NHS treatment.

Regularly review own practices and makes changes in accordance with current and/or best practice, makes suggestions for improved practice and identifies where other activities affect own practice

To achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales.

To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams in which he/she works.

To undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager, which are commensurate with the role, including project work.
