We are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivatedNutrition Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our nursing and dietetic team. We welcome applicants who have an interest in supporting patients nutritional needs as a career development opportunity.

The position is contracted at 15 hours per week, work pattern flexible.

The post holder will provides knowledge related to nutrition support through education, planning, and delivering specialist training to healthcare professionals, patients and their relatives.

Jointly with the nutrition and dietetic team take responsibility for ensuring that nutrition support is delivered as safely and effectively as possible and promotes and coordinates seamless pathways of care for patients requiring nutrition support.

Raises the profile and importance of nutrition assessment, medical nutrition therapy, and monitoring to optimize patient care and reduce hospital stay.

They will lead clinical audits, research and development and develops/reviews guidelines in relation to nutrition support.

Investigate, evaluate and implement new processes, techniques as well as instruments and other tools required to improve patient nutritional care.

Provides highly specialist advice and advanced technical skills in relation to enteral feeding tubes and clinical case management of complications relating to enteral feeding tubes

1. Takes the lead in providing expert advice in own area of expertise to the multidisciplinary team through attending appropriate ward rounds, MDT meetings, and other inter-professional discussions regarding the provision of nutritional support for patients based on clinical evidence.



2. Jointly with the Nutrition and Dietetic Department assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to address complex and changing needs for patients requiring enteral nutrition support including the care of enteral feeding tubes.



3. Demonstrate an advanced level of clinical decision-making in own area of expertise to provide a holistic nursing assessment of patients and to develop and evaluate an integrated and effective plan for the management of their condition.



4. Assist in the assessment and management of complex nutritional requirements for patients who are malnourished or at risk of malnutrition e.g. NG tubes, PEG/RIG/JEJ tubes.



5. Undertake the implementation and evaluation of nutrition support provide for patients ensuring that care delivered is evidence-based and is a result of an individualized holistic assessment of care needs
