Job Title: R&D Technician
Location: Cwmbran
Salary: £25-£28k

Hours: Full time. Monday - Friday days regular

Here at The Recruitment Co, we currently recruiting an R&D Technician to work for a company based in Cwmbran ona full time permanent contract.

The main purpose of the role is to assist with the research & development of new products to clients requirements whilst ensuring all elements of design, formulation and manufacturing are safe and accurate.

Main Job Roles:

  • Under minimal supervision, completes tasks as directed.
  • Adheres to set objectives and standards.
  • Independently completes Product Development projects from inception to commercialisation, meeting deadlines with support from R&D wider Team, as needed.
  • Provide support for key clients and work with Raw Materials suppliers for all products within the Volcke Aerosol United Kingdom portfolio.
  • Understand Global & EU Cosmetic Regulations and Compliance issues, whilst covering all legal and
    technical requirements for the formulated products.
  • Understand Global & EU Aerosol Directive, whilst covering all legal and technical requirements for the
    formulated non cosmetic products.
  • Maintain accurate records of product development throughout the product life-cycle.
  • Demonstrates creativity and resourcefulness in proactively identifying and proposing solutions to issues
    that may arise during product development or in transfer to manufacturing.
  • Act as R&D/Formulation & Processing Work Stream Leader for cross-functional Projects, working closely
    with Sales/Marketing, Production & Engineering, Quality & Occupational Health/Safety
  • Manage the required Validation works (Stability Tests and all required external User trials, Challenge tests
    and Product Assessments (e.g. CPSR)).
  • Support the product transfer of new products from lab scale to full scale batch size.
  • Support the provision of costings for new product development within departmental budget requirements.
  • Ensure activities are managed safely based on comprehensive risk assessment (including COSHH) and
    Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with the relevant quality and HSE standards.
  • Work closely with QA and QC departments with the development of new test methods and test requirements.
  • Work Closely with Mixing and Production in the development of IPC's for new products.
  • Support all site functions with technical investigations and CAPA actions linked to process / formulation
    non-conformances.

Required Experience

  • Qualified to at least BSc or equivalent in Chemistry or a similar technical discipline
  • Good with numbers and attention to details.
  • Keenness and enthusiasm.
  • Wiling to support the values of Respect, Transparency, Problem Solving and Respect.
  • The attitude and will to want to make a difference and to support other team members.
  • Self-motivated with positive attitude to meet deadlines and work schedules.
  • Ability to think logically and be able to analyse problems in a systematic way.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence both at individual and group levels within the business.
  • Have a disciplined and enthusiastic approach, which captures the commitment of others.
  • Good planning and organisational skills.
  • A customer focused approach considering the requirements of both internal and external customers with a willingness to meet those needs.
  • Good IT skills in Office 365, especially Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Hair, Skin Care Technology/Science is a Plus.
  • Knowledge of Aerosols Formulation and Technology is a Plus.
