To work according to the statutory requirements and promote childrens learning through the Early Years Foundation Stage To re-assure, support, and communicate with the children in a professional and caring manner. To ensure the children dietary requirements are fulfilled and they are rested, meeting their individual needs, and documentations is updated and communicated. Ensure all children s bedding/spare items are clean, laundered and stored correctly. To promote positive behaviour and good communication with the children to raise their self-esteem and confidence. To raise any concerns noticed regarding childrens behaviour/play or any issues that may be linked to safeguarding following the nursery policy. To ensure the childrens environment is welcoming by keeping it clean, tidy and safe, including ensuring work surfaces and floors are kept clean and dirt-free for all to include children, parents and visitors, by cleaning as you go and sterilising play/environmental areas and deep cleaning. To ensure the children are toileted and/or changed regularly so that they are clean and comfortable throughout the day. To ensure that new children, parents and staff are welcomed and settled well. To collect all relevant information and show to the Managers. To engage in observation, planning and devising an educational care programme for individual children that promotes learning and development complying fully with the Early Years Foundation Stage. To be confident in developing excellent working relationships with parents, liaising regularly and informing them of any daily occurrences, learning and development about their child. To work as a team sharing the workload and providing equality for all. To support the group leader during meetings, producing agendas and minutes, and dispersing workload/actions equally. To be knowledgeable in special educational needs and disability (Code of Practice). To reflect on practice with Nursery Manager and colleague and learn from it by improving the service. To act as a responsible professional person for the room/nursery in the absence of the group leader. To fulfil general office administration such as answering the telephone, using the computer, photocopying, laminating, and to take on extra duties / jobs / responsibilities. To support the induction of new staff into the room ensuring that they are aware of all of their responsibilities and supervise and support students whilst on placement at the nursery. To participate in outings/trips, keeping all safe and educating the children when outside of nursery premises, whilst meeting their individual needs and act as the lead in the absence of the group leader. To be accountable for all the children within your care. To keep medicine, accident and register books up-to-date, and to give medication / first aid where appropriate and record. To create an order of all provisions, toys, equipment, art & craft materials, etc., for the room. To be responsible for chosen role/s and responsibilities ( or example music and movement officer) To engage in all physical aspects in relation to the children (I. e lifting, running, bending, sitting on the floor and small chairs) To attend regular team meetings with the Nursery Manager to discuss general Nursery Issues/training within and out of normal nursery hours. To attend regular appraisal and supervision meetings to discuss personal development, appraisal and supervision with the Nursery Manager. To undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager which are relevant with the role, including project work, internal job rotation and absence cover. To always follow all trust and nursery policies and procedures To participate and undertake in all statutory/mandatory training, including first aid, moving and handling, safeguarding children, fire safety and food hygiene.
