The school is centred on the community of Broughton, just north of Edinburgh city centre. Our catchment area is widespread and stretches from Princes Street in the south to Warriston in the north. There is a rich social and cultural mix of pupils within the school.

The school roll is around 360, organised into 14 mainstream classes and two enhanced support base (ESB) classes for pupils with additional support needs. The nursery provides a total of 65 places. Both ESB and the nursery are situated in self contained separate buildings within the school grounds.

Our Enhanced Support Base is made up of two classes. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic individual to the permanent position of Class Teacher for our Enhanced Support Base 1 Class. The Class Teacher will need to be skilled and passionate about improving outcomes for all young people. This is a full time, permanent position, working with P1 – P3 children with a diagnosis of autism and other complex needs.

There are eight children in the class which is staffed by the Class Teacher, an Early Years Practitioner, one full time Pupil Support Assistant and one part-time Pupil Support Assistant. Previous experience of working in Special Education is desirable.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
