Industrial Engineer(s) - Automotive Manufacturing - Birmingham

Experienced Manufacturing/Industrial Engineers are required for a leading automotive manufacturing company based in Birmingham

Purpose & Key accountabilities

  • Working Practices - Minimise risk, increase efficiency.
  • Working Practices - To provide information on the impact of planned strategies.
  • To provide information during concept process development, and productivity improvements to ensure the optimum solution is found to deliver planned targets.

Key accountabilities of the function

  • Development of productivity improvements plans to achieve annual targets.
  • Development of simulation models & experiments to validate process concepts & changes.
  • Delivery of bi-annual workplace review assessments via MTM study and process observation.
  • Monthly reporting of MTM study achievement
  • Exploit production system synergies VPS/ Innovation & Digitalisation to support efficiency improvements.
  • Focus on delivery of efficiency improvements via MTM study.
  • Support line test performance activities ready for new product launches.
  • Annual update of relevant master data in SAP.
  • Impact on innovations and changes - Delivery of innovation via MTM study and process observations, in collaboration with wider Production System team

Qualifications:

  • Qualified to HNC &/or Degree level in engineering (NVQ Level 4 or equivalent).
  • Qualified eMPlant simulation user.
  • Qualified user of standard data systems UAS and MTM etc…
  • Industrial engineering practices (method & work study).

Work experience

  • In-depth knowledge and application of industrial engineering techniques.
  • Ability to design, construct and maintain eMPlant simulation models.
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Project management skills (leading, steering, influencer preparing data in a readable way for all levels, adhering/ delivery to milestone timing).
  • High level of expertise in data collection and analysis as well as presentation skills.
  • Highly effective communication techniques.
  • Need to understand manufacturing process, product performance and Plant/Platform organisation.
  • Good communicator, ability to deliver clear, concise and convincing information to at all levels within the business, ability to influence.
  • Workshop facilitation/ steering.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards.
  • IT skills - familiar with Microsoft, SAP, IPS-T, PSS, MMS etc.
  • Knowledge of target management process and associated reporting system/s.
  • Understanding of line balancing techniques.
  • Production system philosophy and principles.
  • Production system tools and techniques.
