Band 7 Midwife - Team Leader Community Midwifery Teams:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to lead one of our community teams.

The post require an enthusiastic, committed midwife to join our established dynamic and forward thinking maternity team.

The midwife will be a highly motivated practitioner with a vision to support women and families through their pregnancy, birth and postnatal period.

The post holder will be part of a team of highly trained, dedicated midwives with excellent organisational and communication skills. The post holder will require the skills to help the team to working toward providing maternity continuity of carer.

The midwife must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, be a caring and compassionate individual focused on providing excellent quality care, working within the values held by Royal Free London NHS Trust.

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust became a new enlarged organisation on 1st July 2014. We now consist of the Royal Free Hospital, Barnet Hospital and Chase Farm Hospital. We provide maternity services across a large part of North and Central London and we have services based across the community.
• To work autonomously, managing and overseeing practitioners and their caseload whilst working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualised care.
• Act as a role model, demonstrating high standards of care and providing expert and professional clinical leadership in the specialist areas.
• Demonstrate appropriate expert practice and highly specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. Provide professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the specialty and to act as a resource for education and clinical expertise in the midwifery service.
• Promote and deliver high standards of practice at all times and assist in the development of the specialist service, through the use of evidence based practice and clinical standards.

• Work in accordance with the NMCs rules and code of conduct for midwives.
• Maintain and develop professional knowledge and competence in accordance within the NMC recommendations.
• Act as a role model for midwifery practice to all staff within the directorate.
• Participate in the teaching and dissemination of professional and clinical knowledge to all learners and members of staff.
• Provide a mentor support system for students and midwives within the Midwifery practice.
• Arrange and develop orientation programmes, which familiarise new members of staff with the organisational and clinical demands of the unit and Midwifery practice.
• Ensure that working conditions are safe in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act.
• To be fully informed of the risk management strategy, be responsible for reporting incidents, risk assessment and development of action plans to reduce risk and complaints.
