You will provide Rheumatology Services to a population of about 500,000 with an extended catchment area of up to 1.2million. We provide inpatient specialist rheumatology care for complex conditions and receive referrals from other specialties across the Trust. There is a weekly MSK MDT, monthly early arthritis MDT and a monthly vasculitis MDT. This post is designed to support the continued development and delivery of rheumatology general and specialized services and includes contributions to general internal medicine. We would be delighted to support you with any subspecialty interests. The Trust has a Medical Day Unit where 1155 rheumatology patients per year attend for treatment. The Department admits about 180 rheumatology inpatients a year.

You will have continuing responsibility for patients in your care and to support the functioning of the department. You will be a team player and provide on a reciprocal basis, emergency cover for colleagues during periods of absence. You will carry out teaching duties as required and take an active part in the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education programme. These include the teaching of junior medical staff as well as the education of nursing staff, general practitioners and other clinical staff. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
