We are looking for a flexible, organised and responsible person with excellent communications skills to join our busy Surgical Ward based in Northwick Park Hospital.
To support the operational and nursing leadership team and support the coordination and training for clinical staff. To support the department in the efficient day to day running with operational tasks. Provide accurate information and documentation and supply information as required.
Liaison with clinical and admin staff both within and outside the department. Contact with patients and other relevant external agencies & ensure delivery of excellent customer service.
The successful candidate will need to be committed to providing a high standard of patient care and will support and supervise their teams to achieve a high standard in the Key Performance Indicators.
Our focus is on providing excellent care in a busy environment ensuring a high standard of nursing care in a time-pressured environment.
Liaison with staff both within and outside the department, contact with the extended MDT, patients and other relevant external agencies as requested by the team. Responsibility for providing and receiving complex/sensitive information ensuring they maintain information governance standards. Respond to a high volume of external/internal enquires via personal, written and telephone queries. Excellent communication skills required both verbal and written.

JOB SUMMARY
• Responsible for the administrative function relating to the ward.
• Participate in the reception of patients and relatives in the clinical area and act courteously to all visitors.
• Works within set routines, policies and procedures/can deal on own with patient enquiries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The ward clerk will:
• Work collaboratively and co-operatively with their ward colleagues to provide full administrative, reception and clerical support to the wards
• Input and retrieve information from EPR systems such as CernerEPR
• Maintain data quality of all activity in the ward
• Manage patient case notes
• Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and families
• Ensure clerical tasks of the unit are completed and are up-to-date.
Key Working Relationships and Communication
• To ensure appropriate information is available on the ward for patients and visitors.
• To deal with enquiries from medical staff and the public concerning the admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
• Provision of general non-clinical advice to patient and their families - deal with face to face and telephone enquiries in a sympathetic, pleasant and efficient manner, ensuring messages are relayed in an appropriate and timely manner, referring calls and enquiries to Band 7 where appropriate.
• Liaise with patient, relatives and hospital staff/other departments.
• The post holder must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and health service businesses in accordance with Trust Confidentiality Policy and the Data Protection Act.
