Summary


The Communications Team plays a key role in helping to manage the reputation of the Trust and its two hospital sites in University Hospital, Coventry and the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby. Our objective is to support our staff, patients and all those who work with us to deliver high quality care.

Our forward-thinking team is responsible for all the Trust’s internal and external communications. The team produce all internal and external communications, corporate campaigns and projects, media relations, event management, social media, branding and digital marketing.

Through our special partnership with Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle USA, we have been on an improvement journey as an organisation and that has brought a wide range of support, tools and development to help our team become the best it can be. The Senior Communications and Engagement Officer will support the team in all of these functions as outlined below to tell the story, uphold the values and protect the reputation of one of the busiest teaching trusts in the country.

Communications plans and campaigns – the role will be involved in the research and writing of plans and campaigns with colleagues that will lead to impactful results, meet objectives and drive improvements.

Creative contents – we don’t have large advertising budgets in the public sector so having a Senior Communications and Engagement Officer who can take any topic and find a creative angle to help messages stand out from the crowd is invaluable. Developing our branding and style guidelines to combine creativity with effectiveness will help us to ensure our vision and voice are seen and heard effectively.

Social Media – the Trust actively engages with patients and communities across social media. Working with the team, the Senior Communications and Engagement Officer will plan and produce contents from operational activities and make connections to deliver an integrated approach for our communications work.

The role will need to understand how to effectively engage audiences on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn to deliver engaging stories and visual content to these channels that promote the reputation of the Trust and the services we provide.

Digital media – our website pages are viewed more than 350,000 times per month and that is why it is critical it’s modern, dynamic and easy to navigate. Working with clinical colleagues, the Senior Communications and Engagement Officer role will help us maintain a credible online presence, present accurate, up to date information and deliver improvements with our website supplier.

Internal Communications and employee engagement support – our 10,500 staff require robust and reliable communications that can support them around the clock. As a key part of our team, you will be involved in providing on the spot advice and support as inevitable operational issues arise.

Team management- The Senior Communications and Engagement Officer will have supervisory responsibilities within the team, a pivotal role requiring the ability to support personal growth and respond quickly to developing issues.
