A Vacancy at Barking Havering and Redbridge Univ Hospitals NHS Trust.

Stroke Services at BHRUT require an enthusiastic and motivated Bed Facilitator to assist the clinical teams in supporting operational flow, bed management and support the management of stroke patients across the Neuroscience pathway. Stroke patients receive the latest up-to-date treatments: Thrombolysis and Mechanical Thrombectomy. You will need excellent communicational skills to work autonomously and to build key relationships, internally and externally, to improve hospital flow. You will be required to work Monday-Friday, within normal working hours. You are expected to demonstrate effective interprofessional skills and represent the speciality. HASU is a 24/7 inpatient area consisting of stroke patients along with Medicine. The Stroke Service also has a specialist ASU and Stroke Rehabilitation Unit. We participate in the SSNAP, which is a national quality improvement programme, measuring stroke services and care.

The post holder will work as part of the Surgery Division in delivering best utilisation of the bed state through gathering current information and escalate issues as required both to the discharge coordinators and the Matrons as required.
The Matrons and Discharge coordinators will liaise with external and internal providers to ensure that efficiency within the discharge process is as robust as possible and patients are cared for in the best place possible to enhance both patient care and experience.
A fundamental aspect of this role is the liaison between the Silver command structure and the Division in relation to the capacity and best utilisation of resources.

We provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. Most of our 7,800 permanent staff live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals and we operate from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London – more than 300,000 people visited our A&Es in 2023. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Community Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

We’re pleased to be leading the way inreducing the time our patientswait to get the treatment they need. The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to beaccredited as part of a national scheme; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings for urgent and emergency care at Queen’s and King George hospitals; and data released by NHS England showed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also part of theNorth East London Cancer Alliance.
