The North Yorkshire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme is seeking an administrator to join their team in York. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of the service, which provides retinal screening to over 47,000 individuals with diabetes across North Yorkshire.
As the administrator, you'll handle tasks such as booking patient appointments across multiple screening sites, ensuring adherence to service objectives. Proficiency with modern software packages is essential, as you'll be using bespoke screening software. Moreover, exceptional customer care skills are a must, as you'll interact with patients regularly.
A significant focus of this role is ensuring that patients are on the correct pathway, and the successful candidate will be tasked with implementing specific failsafe measures to uphold patient safety. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment are also essential qualities for this position.

• Arrange flexible appointments as necessary to ensure utmost convenience for service users and minimise DNA rate.
• Deal courteously with enquiries from GPs and service users, passing enquiries of a medical nature or complaints to the appropriate people.
• Create and maintain an accurate register of patients with diabetes requiring diabetic eye screening, based on referrals from GP surgeries.
• Ensure all programme failsafe procedures are followed and bring issues that represent risk to the attention of the Admin Team Leader.
• Ensure that all patients are invited for screening when due, set up clinics, and send out timely appointments.
• Book rooms with GP surgeries and other venues for screening clinics.
• Monitor service activity and advise Team Leader and / or Programme Manager of any risks to the successful achievement of the national standards.
• Send screening results to GPs and patients within the agreed timescales.
• Provide training, supervision and mentor new staff.
• Work flexibly with the to ensure cover during office hours to:• provide a responsive service to users
• provide immediate response in the event of a problem i.e. sickness; short notice leave
• ensure the maintenance of confidentiality at all times
