Crynodeb
This post is designed to develop and support dermatology research in the Trust with some clinical dermatological experience. There will also be a research project within this environment. This post would be ideal for a junior doctor interested in training in dermatology to gain clinical exposure, as well as gain experience in dermatology research, prior to applying for a training position. The research role will focus on CTIMP academic-led and Industry sponsored trials in the active NIHR dermatology trials portfolio delivered at CIRU (http://www.bsuh.nhs.uk/research/clinical-researchfacility-2/), and registry/observational studies carried out in the dermatology department at Brighton General Hospital. Dr Farrant, Dr Topham and Dr DeGiovanni lead in recruiting and supervising trial patients and have an active presence in CIRU with the excellent team of research nurses and research support staff. Our current portfolio is varied with trials in atopic eczema, alopecia areata, psoriasis, skin lesions and hidradenitis suppurativa. The clinical duties of the post will include an inflammatory clinic, training in minor surgical procedures and lesion assessment. The post holder is expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate education. On Call Commitment: No out of hours commitments. Rota during normal working hours.
