Job Type: Rolling contract position available
Location: Various UK sites – North West and Scotland areas
Package : Competitive salary with mileage and travel expenses, plus home working support and equipment (phone etc.), pension, holidays
Hours of Work: 37 hours per week

We are currently recruiting for Engineering Officers who will report to our client via the Area Engineering Manager and will be accountable for the day-to-day Project Management and Quality Assurance of all active sites within a given portfolio of sites.

Areas covered:
Responsibility for covering all sites within one of 4 areas in Great Britain, extensive travel and driving.
Visits to constructions sites and offices

Project Management:
Monitor and improve quality on live sites within the designated geographical area.
Undertake liaison duties and ensure proper co-ordination takes place between our Asset Adoption partners, Installation teams, supervisors, managers, developers, site agents and the British Gas and agency design teams so that Projects are properly completed to an excellent standard of quality, workmanship and compliance.

Audits:
Undertake a audits throughout the year on auditing system supplied.
Monitor audit defects and ensure effective correction.

Quality Assurance:
Deliver impartial and effective reporting of quality audits and subsequent monitoring and control of corrective actions to ensure they are properly dealt with in time.
Maintain overall defect levels below predetermined targets.
Implement and manage quality Improvement plans.

Responsibilities:

To be accountable for the day to day operational management and dispersion of your time, including effective administration of company systems, business processes, policies and procedures.
To ensure performance targets are achieved i.e. customer service, quality performance improvement, number of live audits carried out, project management activities undertaken.
To take ownership and accountability for the resolution of complex quality and corrective action issues in a timely and effective manner as well as reduce levels of avoidable defects.
To review and identify actions that deliver quality and or efficiency improvements, working closely with our partners to resolve problems and improve processes and systems. Agreeing action plans to deliver these improvements.
To effectively manage site visits, live audits and liaison meetings on a day to day basis
Undertake audits in focused and targeted areas while work is in progress working closely with Service Provider and as directed by the AEM.
When developer defects are identified to follow up and ensure quick closure, working with developer at both site and HQ level. Particularly in safety areas involving ventilation, hazardous zones, room sealing etc. and assist with interpretation of standards for developers
When SP defects are identified to follow up and work with SP to put in place measures which ensure continued reduction and elimination of common defects.
To be fully equipped to correct minor defects at the time of the audit. E.g. labels.
To follow up instances of defective components with manufacturer and report results to BGNHC Engineering.
Raise Corrective Actions as required from Site Audit defects.
Audit variations via major/minor procedure.
Carry out site surveys including pre quotation/design surveys and pre-construction surveys
Monitor Competence of SP staff against relevant registers.
Monitor SP works to ensure they are properly authorized.
Monitor compliance against Operational procedures, Quality Management System and method statements.
Monitor and report QA and compliance performance to AEM.
Monitor SP construction compliance against the client’s design requirements.
Check Risk Assessments and Method Statements for appropriateness and accuracy.
Check accuracy of weekly whereabouts information.
Liaise with DNO/IDNO when required for specific site issues.
When required represent the client at meetings with Highways Authority, DNO, IDNO, Police, Lloyds, HSE etc. Follow up actions.
Monitor NRSWA works and reinstatement defects against standards.
Monitor site teams are provided with up to date information and are properly equipped to carry out their intended work.
Monitor quality and compliance performance of all teams and individuals.
Checking the team has sufficient resources to execute their tasks safely and effectively.
Taking ownership for effective and timely resolution of compliance and quality issues.
Actively work with colleagues and peers to provide support in achieving British Gas Siteworks Quality improvement and Compliance goals.
Identify opportunities for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our quality management in the field and assist in creating and implementing improvements.
Work with peers and their team to ensure effective handling of customer queries /complaints.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Quality assurance and audit experience, audit qualification or training preferred.
Experience of managing and coordinating projects.
Health and Safety awareness, relevant legislation standards and guidance.
Analytical skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret data from the systems.
Technical knowledge.
Able to assimilate and apply technical standards procedures and quality assurance.
Utility infrastructure, electric essential with gas and water projects a benefit.
SHEA Power safety passport (water & gas) – Multi utility preferred.

Appropriate Engineering qualification and training and construction experience.
