JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A little about myself

I am a 69-year-old married man living in Llanmaes just outside Llantwit Major. I was diagnosed with Parkinsons when I was 33 years old and I am married, and have two children who are now in their 30’s. I used to work in Insurance and enjoyed football and horse racing. I still enjoy watching most sports on TV and when possible like to play boules on a local boules court.

Purpose of the job

To assist and support me in my home and out in the community whilst my wife is in work.

PLACE OF WORK

In the home and out in the community.

HOURS OF WORK

6 hours a week on Saturdays.

RATE OF PAY

£12.70 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

· Assist me with my personal care and general movement around my home as I can occasionally be a little unsteady.

· Cook my lunch and administer my tablets.

· I need help to complete some minor physical exercises to aid my mobility and help me set up and use my exercise bike on a regular basis.

· Socially, I like to meet people and currently go to “Chatty Cafe” in Llantwit Major.

· When possible, I like to go out into the community and although I cannot walk that far I have a wheelchair which allows me to go to various locations including Dyffryn Gardens, Coldknapp, Cosmeston Lakes and other local attractions.

· In my local village, Llanmaes, I am known by many people and like to see them when going to play boules at the local Village Hall.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

· Easy going.

· Calm and patient.

· Good sense of humour.

· Flexible approach.

· A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.
