IT Engineer– Birmingham

Location – B3 2TA

Salary - £34,000-£39,000

Do you have good troubleshooting skills? Are you an analytical problem solver with strong customer service and care skills? Are you looking for a transformative role? TeacherActive are searching for an IT Engineer to join our team in Birmingham.

Responsibilities:

- Provide end user support, where required, to all users across the organisation, logging all incidents and service requests accurately and resolving in a timely fashion / within boundaries of SLA/SLO.

- Provide technical support to IT team members and act as escalation point for them.

- Proactively work to predict issues, as well as the actions that are needed to stop them occurring.

- Reactively identify and rectify issues and act as technical lead for incidents where required.

- Create and develop procedures and process for IT to obtain optimisation, process efficiency and SLA delivery. Providing advice and guidance to staff on the use of our IT systems and software, translating technical information into easily understood language.

- As part of the team that includes internal and external members, work to develop software, programs and processes to meet the needs of the company.

- Support Disaster Recovery planning and testing.

- Where required, lead on delivery initiatives for the team. Be able to articulate and understand the Why and the What whilst maintaining technical focus in the How.

Role Requirements:

- Provide responsive IT support services to the organisation, based from our Birmingham office

- Installing and configure hardware operating systems and applications.

- Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues.

- Prioritise and manage multiple open cases/requests at one time.

- Rapidly establish a good working relationship with customers and other professionals.

- Creating, maintain and update technical documentation regularly.

- Be responsible for agreed key business processes that are supported by Technology.

- Be responsible for the effective implementation of resilience and redundancy within technical process.

- Responsible for testing of software releases into business systems.

Essential Skills:

- Troubleshoot skills and the ability to quickly get to the root of a problem quickly and methodically

- Good analytical and problem solving skills within base platforms of Windows Desktop and Server / Linux / 365 / AD / DNS / IP / AWS / AZURE / LAN / WAN / WLAN / SDWAN and other wider environment including development environments

- AD / AAD / 365 / Mail routing / Teams Rooms and General AV Awareness.

- Knowledge of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) an understanding of network topologies, protocols, and routing.

- Understanding of security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and encryption.

- In depth awareness of Cybersecurity. maintain accurate records and document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

- SQL Server query, management, and maintenance.

- Maria DB understanding, query, management, and maintenance

- Dynamics platform understanding, maintenance and management.

- Security awareness and understanding. Partner management and interaction. Incident involvement through to resolution.
