Crynodeb

MFT has become the largest employer of PA’s in the NW with over 40 employed PAs. We are now seeking a PA to work in Clinical Haematology, Inpatient Medical Specialties at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Patient care and safety are at the core of every role. We support and value our staff and have a PA consultant clinical lead, non-clinical lead, lead PA and a dedicated PA support team. We have monthly half day Physician Associate teaching to support CPD and provide study leave funding. We run a “preceptorship” band 6 year to support newly qualified PA’s in the transition. Subject to satisfactorily completing agreed competencies, in line with the Faculty of Physician Associates recommendations, PA’s on a permanent contract can then advance to band 7 PA roles after the first year of employment.

Applicants will be required to register on the Faculty of Physician Associates (FPA) Managed Voluntary Register (FPMVR) before commencement of employment. They must hold, a PG Diploma or Masters in Physician Associate Studies from a recognised University and have passed the UK Physician Associate National Examinations or equivalent for internationally trained applicants. If applying as a student, please state date of university and national exams in the supporting information. You must be able commence employment by September 2024.

Successful candidates will undergo an induction programme and be supported and mentored in the development of their clinical practice. They will be allocated a consultant educational supervisor to support them to develop a professional portfolio and will be offered CPD, study leave support, and teaching time.

With appropriate clinical supervision, the post holder will:
• undertake patient consultations, assessments & clinical examinations;
• order appropriate investigations;
• interpret investigation findings;
• determine a list of differential diagnoses;
• recommend a management/treatment plan;
• take responsibility for an appropriate dedicated patient caseload.

To find out more about the key responsibilities and the specific skills and experience you’ll need, take a look at the Job Description & Person Specification attachments under the ‘Supporting Documents’ heading. So that you’re even more equipped to make an informed decision to apply to us, you’ll need to take time to read the ‘Candidate Essentials Guide’that sits with the Job Description and Person Specification. This document provides you with details about the Trust, our benefits and outlines how ‘we care for you as you care for others’. Most importantly, it also contains critical information you’ll need to be aware of before you submit an application form.

COVID-19 vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients from the virus when working in our healthcare settings. Whilst COVID-19 vaccination is not currently a condition of employment, we do encourage our staff to get vaccinated. We will be checking the vaccination status of all new starters so that we can manage individual and environmental risks, and so that we can support those who may be undecided about vaccination.

If you are unvaccinated, there is helpful advice and information available by searching on the ‘NHS England’ website where you can also find out more about how to access the vaccination. There is currently Government consultation underway which will determine whether some new employees may need to be vaccinated.

Diversity Matters

MFT is committed to promoting equality of opportunity, celebrating and valuing diversity and eliminating any form of unlawful discrimination across our workforce, ensuring our people are truly representative of the communities we serve. All individuals regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation are encouraged to apply for this post. As an inclusive employer, we are here to support you. If you have any special requirements to help you with your application, email our team atresourcing@mft.nhs.uk.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
