Due to expansion we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced nurse to join our Endoscopy Booking Assessment Nurse Team (EBAN). You will become part of a large established team of committed Gastroenterology, Endoscopy and decontamination professionals who are proud to deliver the very best care to all our patients. within the EBAN role you will be responsible for the safe and effective triage and pre assessment of patients having endoscopy procedures. You will have initial supernumerary status and be supported to learn every aspect of the patient journey. Focus will then move to your EBAN role and through a coordinated induction process you will develop alongside existing team. You will be expected to offer full engagement to this process and in return you will become part of an inclusive team who encourage learning from excellence in an environment that embraces individual freedom to speak up. Thepostholderwill workwithourexistingEBANandadministrativebookingteam,itis an exciting time to join this team as we are in the process of developing a moreefficient and streamlined service through guidance from our newly developedStandard Operating Procedures. The post holder will be part of a team responsiblefor prioritising and maximising patient safety by supporting the administrativebooking team in identifying potential risk area and minimising this risk by effectivetriage and assessment. Successful applicant will also contribute to the managementof endoscopy wait times by minimising the likelihood of re books and on the dayproblemsforpatients.

The EBAN nurse will be an approachable source of support to the administrativebooking team advising on commonly met problems for Endoscopy patients. This rolewill work across 7 days to meet the needs of the service; we are in the process ofdevisinganewrostertocoverweekendsandevenings,thesuccessfulcandidatewillbecomepart of this.

Thepostholder willbecomepartofaregisterednurseteamofbookersandwillbeexpected to follow policies and procedures laid out but also to challenge these ifthere is a safety risk to patient. Positive patient outcomes are our priority inEndoscopyandtheEBAN postisanintegralpart of thisaim.

Our Unit is recently refurbished and meets the requirements of the JAG environmental checklist supporting best practice and patient experience. We have an on-site training room and are a spoke unit to the NW Endoscopy training academy. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To maintain good communication skills e.g. ability to communicate sensitive information about patient’s medical condition, acknowledging barriers to understanding. Develop assessment skills in line with recognised advisory bodies and by following our internal standard operating procedures.

To assess and agree patients’ requirements and implement plans to meet the patient’s requirements.

To maintain a healthy, safe and productive work environment ensuring products and services used meet quality requirements.

To comply with Trust’s policies, procedures and guidelines whilst carrying out patient care. The post holder must also comply with all policy, procedures and training on infection prevention and control.

To identify and discuss opportunities for improvements in clinical and administrative practice. To embrace changes for the benefits of patient safety and to improve standards of care.

To be responsible for training new staff within the team once your own competency is confirmed. You will be given a supernumerary period to learn procedures and achieve novice EBAN status. Your learning will then evolve with support of your immediate and wider team.

To contribute to the planning, delivery and organisation the work of the EBAN team through a suggested scheduling process and through collaboration with the whole EBAN team.

To assess the performance of teams and individuals through the annual appraisal process.

To delegate responsibility and authority to others, agreeing targets to completion.

To provide advice and support to the wider administrative booking team when required.

To engage in team meetings within your as required and realistic.

To ensure accurate recording and safe storage of information.

To be able to make decisions for safe triage, assessment and bookings through collaborative working.

To escalate to senior nursing managers and senior operational team when unsure or concerned regarding a patient issue..
