Summary

As an Emergency Ambulance Crew, you will be responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency situations where you will assess and treat patients to your skill level. You will transport ambulatory / non- ambulatory patients across all St John Ambulance services. You will be responsible for providing high quality, professional and compassionate care at all times. This role will allow you to support your community in emergency and non-emergency situations, often supporting the local ambulance service or working at events. Attend, assess and commence pre-hospital emergency treatment for patients within the care of St John Ambulance in accordance with current clinical practice procedures, keeping within the Clinical Scope of Practice for the role Take relevant information from a variety of sources at the scene, reporting to healthcare professional, hospitals or others as required whilst ensuring patient confidentiality is maintained To be accountable for the care and safety of patients in your charge until safely discharged, transferred or handed over to an appropriate individual Accurately hand over the care of a patient to the most relevant individual or department, reporting any concerns to the appropriate person or body, including any concerns around safeguarding or increasing care needs Accurately completing all documentation relating to patients, vehicles and equipment and submit it via the correct channels in a timely manner Encouraging patients to provide feedback (including compliments and raising concerns) on the quality of the service we have given, explaining the communication channels that are available Actively participate in personal and environmental cleaning routines (including vehicles, equipment and areas of the garaging facilities) to ensure that infection prevention and control standards are adhered to When working with lesser/newer clinically qualified or returned to practice St John People, act as the senior clinician and maintain clinical responsibility, supporting, nurturing and guiding them as required To follow current CQC requirements for all regulated activity St John Ambulance is registered for, to ensure the CQC fundamental standards and the key five questions are met when delivering any regulated activity on behalf of St John Ambulance To follow current best practice, St John Ambulance policies (and associated procedures) and to escalate patient care requirements if the situation requires it Ensure that the vehicle and equipment being used is fit for purpose, used correctly, is clean and report defects to the vehicle, equipment and any other operational issues as soon as possible Achieve and maintain competence in all relevant skills and knowledge. Be aware of skill fade and knowledge gaps and actively engage in Essential Education & CPD events, maintaining a personal development portfolio. You must complete all mandatory learning, online learning or face-to-face during the probationary period and then annually thereafter Perform any other duties commensurate with these responsibilities, the band of the post and skills and qualifications of the post-holder. You will: Be able to work shifts of up to 12 hours in length, plus unplanned overruns, over a 24/7 operational period, including late shifts, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays Have no more than 3 penalty points on your UK driving licence Be screened to meet a Category 1 role in St John Ambulance Undergo training to the Emergency Ambulance Crew level and be expected to maintain this qualification, including portfolio and CPD activities required annually.
