SOS Bus Drivers (various roles)
Contract: Zero Hours
Salary: £12 per hour (days) £16 per hour (nights)
Working Pattern: Flexible – Monday to Sunday (when needed)
Closing date: 23rd May 2024
Summary
Do you live in Essex and hold a C1 drivers licence? We are recruiting day-time and night-time drivers for our SOS Bus. Our bus runs throughout the day covering Essex, working with partnership agencies to support vulnerable people in numerous ways, and at night to support the night-time economy in Colchester & Chelmsford.
A day in the life
Day time / Outreach
To support the outreach service by being an ambassador for Open Road and its services. You will drive the bus to rural areas in Essex and ensure general maintenance issues are met, such as checking the oil and fuel and at times you may be asked to clean the vehicle and check logs are completed. While on site, you will use your training to signpost people into treatment if they wish to engage with it. This will also provide an opportunity to talk to interested parties about our services and the possibility of volunteering for Open Road. It is envisaged that a standard shift will be no more than 8 hours.
Night Time – Colchester
You will drive the bus to the location needed for the night time support before the parking restrictions are open to the public (around 5.30pm). You will then leave the vehicle and return in the morning (4-5.00 am) to return it to the local underground parking.
Night Time – Chelmsford
Due to restrictions in the city centre, you will need to pick up the Bus from the ARU and drive into the centre for 10pm for the teams to use. You will then need to return in the morning (3.30 – 4.00 am) to collect the Bus and take back to the ARU.
Please specify on your application which role you’re applying for: Daytime/Outreach, Night-time Colchester or Night-time Chelmsford.
