We are currently seeking a Test & Verification Technician for our client based in Fowlmere, Cambridgeshire. This exciting role is offered on a full time, permanent basis and presents a superb opportunity to join a growing company and work on some interesting and innovative products.

The role
Working as part of the Product Verification Laboratory Team, you will be responsible for conducting, developing and implementing test methods for production and the development of Gas Detection Products, Sensors and Instrumentation.

Carrying out and testing in line with the applicable test method and formally documenting the results in the form of a test report. Applying statistical data analysis and providing sold technical reasoning and discussion will be developed within this role. Approval from Peers may be required from time to time. The maintenance and calibration of Test Equipment to ensure the integrity of validation Test Measurements

You may also be required to train others in the conducting of test methods.

Some responsibility for organisational and administrative tasks within the department. This will include logging and ensuring equipment maintenance, work logging and planning workflow) and some delegated responsibilities on behalf of the Manager or department head as required.

Further information regarding the responsibilities:
• Creation of detailed test plans
• Development of reliable test techniques as part of the Product Verification Team
• Maintenance of Test Equipment & Instrumentation
• Carrying out testing to agreed plans both regular and ono regular
• Produce detailed and accurate Test Reports to document test conditions and results
• Analysis and interpretation of data
• Involvement with Product Development teams to propose test requirements for products and feedback on test results and product performance
• Mentoring trainee technicians as required to ensure department and test procedures are conducted correctly
• Review/ approval of rest reports as applicable
• Always maintaining a neat, tidy and safe working area within the PVL Laboratory

The Person
Ideally, we are seeking someone who has some previous experience of working in test laboratory and some basic electrical and mechanical experience. Ideally some experience within instrument verification if not from the Gas detection background, the necessary training will be provided for the right candidate.

Skills and attributes to include:

• Relevant Technical Experience within a R&D/ QC/ Laboratory environment
• Some educational background in Chemistry/ Physics or a relevant engineering background will be considered
• Self-organised, methodical, logical and detail orientated
• IT literate and proficient with MS Office tools and statistical analysis software such as Minitab/ JMP
• Good interpersonal skills
• Capable of handling test equipment, gas cylinders and gas measuring equipment
• Ideally, some experience of supervising trainee technicians but this is not essential
• Good understanding of laboratory etiquette and accurate data acquisition
• Confident and practical with a good eye for detail
• Safety conscious
• A good level of numeracy
• Experience of working with and analysing data would be preferable but not essential
• A basic Electrical and Mechanical aptitude and measurement competence
• A willingness to learn and develop
• Some familiarity with 6 Sigma statistical analysis would be preferable but not essential



This role is offered on a Full-time, permanent basis and the Working hours are 37.5 hours a week: Monday – Thursday 08:30 – 17:00 and Friday 08:30 – 15:45 (with 45 min unpaid lunch). The salary offered is negotiable, depending on experience and offers some excellent benefits as well as the opportunity to progress and grow within the business.
