If you are looking for a rewarding career and to work within an epic team that will help you grow and thrive, then you have come to the right place. Working within our Constitution Street service you can start your day knowing what you do really does make a difference!

Penumbra is one of Scotland’s leading mental health charities, providing a wide range of community based, recovery focussed mental health services. We’re proud pioneers in the peer movement, with 20% of our colleagues employed in peer support roles. Our creative and forward-thinking approach to mental health recovery has earned us the reputation as a key influencer in public campaigning, policy and practice, and a highly respected provider of high quality and innovative mental health recovery services.

We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic individual who is motivated to lead and supervise members of the team, someone who doesn’t mind rolling their sleeves up, who has a ‘can do’ attitude and gets involved on a daily basis. We are looking for you to jointly oversee a block of supported flats, and some people out in their own flats in the local community. The Assistant Service Manager will encourage and motivate the team, but above all; they will support the team to deliver outcomes for the people that we support, which can be something as practical as managing their own tenancy and immediate surroundings, or maybe medication, to making friends and sustaining relationships, or to the extent of supporting someone to look for work or even volunteering opportunities and eventually move into their own tenancy in Aberdeen.

For this role you should be well organised, have good communication skills and be adept in either being able to use a hand-held device or computer for recording and reporting. You will be expected to work towards the quality standards set by the Care Inspectorate and align with the values set down by the SSSC. Registration would be required for both Care at Home and Housing Support and you should already have your SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent, as defined by the SSSC.

As a mental health charity, we really value the wellbeing of our staff. That’s why we want you to know that you’ll be joining a friendly team, who will give you a supportive environment to help you thrive in your role, including all the training you need to feel confident and equipped.

We can offer you a tonne of employee benefits, and we can promise you’ll be inspired by some pretty amazing humans every single day. We will support you on your own career path; developing new skills, accessing formal and informal learning experiences and providing opportunities to put your continual progress into practice.
