The Acute medical department at Wythenshawe Hospital (part of Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) is looking for enthusiastic and well-motivated Junior Clinical Fellows to join our team. The clinical level expected of applicants applying is Foundation Year 2 or above.



This post provides a great opportunity to gain significant experience in a busy 56-bedded acute medical unit and our same day emergency care unit (SDEC). The successful candidates will work alongside 12 consultants within Acute Medicine. Many of our consultants work across other specialties including renal and rheumatology. All our consultants are invested in training doctors with several holding undergraduate and post graduate regional roles. You will also work alongside doctors in training, physician associates and advanced care practitioners. The successful candidates will be supported by multiple teams of allied health professionals.

The role of this post is to support Wythenshawe Hospitals in the
delivery of care for Acute Medicine (AMU) and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).

The candidate must have a desire to work in the field of medicine, with an understanding of the complexities of this population. They should have good experience, competencies and background of this area and be prepared to work independently with the support of consultants.

To undertake any other duties which is deemed appropriate to the band when requested by Senior Staff:

- Providing supervision, assistance, and instruction to the junior medical staff e.g., Foundation trainees.

- Maintaining the highest clinical standards at all times and in accordance with accepted good medical practice and the various clinical policies of the Service.

- Transmission of relevant clinical information to other medical, technical and nursing staff both within and external to the department, regarding patients referred to other places for further treatment of follow-up.

- Supervision of nursing staff in matters relating to the treatment of patients.

- Teaching and supervision of medical students, nurses and Foundation level doctors working within the department.

- The posts will provide opportunity to complete a fellowship within an area of your choice and to develop services through Quality Improvement Projects or research.

- Occasional duties may arise at the acute trust, e.g., major incidents, ensuring adequate ward staffing.
