Cennox Ltd has an exciting opportunity to join our Finance Department as a Management Accountant supporting the Finance Director. In this role, you will contribute to the overall success of the organisation by producing accurate and timely financial information that supports the Executive team's decision-making, implementation, and enforcement of robust internal control processes and compliance with our statutory financial reporting requirements.

The Management Accountant will support the business in decision-making. Day to day duties could consist of, producing management accounts applying analytical tools to interpret financial information for senior stakeholders. You will work closely with the divisional line managers and commercial teams, assisting in meeting long term profitability objectives as well as being involved in the management and improvement of reporting tools for the business.

The Management Accountant performs a wide range of duties, some of which include:

  • Ensure that reporting deadlines are met and improvements on the month end close and reporting are made.
  • Liaison with Operations/Engineering/Sales teams for all journal entries and other adjustments to be received from the respective divisional unit owners for processing prior to month end close.
  • Responsible for ensuring that each General Ledger balance sheet account is reconciled monthly.
  • Ensure correct allocation of amounts in the general ledger - review coding to GL accounts
  • Responsible for the monthly/quarterly sales commission calculations and liaise with Sales Director for approval.
  • Responsible for monthly reconciliation of stock and calculation of stock obsolescence provision.
  • Budget and forecasting preparation.
  • Responsible for global intercompany loan and trading account reconciliations on a monthly basis, liaising as required to resolve any differences.
  • Preparation of monthly payroll journal and reconciliation of all salary clearing accounts down to nil.
  • Review expense accounts and journal any further monthly accruals considered necessary.
  • Undertake variance analysis on monthly results and provide appropriate commentary.
  • Analyse working capital movements and propose and implement improvements.

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with the following skills or transferable experience.

  • Experienced management accountant with experience in a dynamic business with complex stock requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of UK GAAP (we currently report under FRS102 but may move to IFRS in due course)
  • Excellent Excel skills and Microsoft Dynamics NAV (including thorough understanding and experience of stock module) is a pre-requisite for this role.
  • CIMA/ACCA qualified, or qualified by
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, a strong work ethic, and demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and without supervision.
  • Flexibility to work overtime during month/year end close and during ad hoc projects.
  • Works well under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
