The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is the UK’s governmental department responsible for international trade. The Department brings together policy and operational expertise to break down barriers to trade and investment in markets across the world.

The Tariff Policy Delivery team leads on delivering high-profile and business as usual UK trade and tariff policy. The team is vital to delivering the UK’s independent trade policy, working with policy and operational colleagues to ensure the UK’s trade policy is applied at the Border. This includes implementing tariff policy for all Free Trade Agreements, trade remedies, disputes, tariffs and suspensions. The team also work closely with DBT’s Digital team to support the development of the Tariff Application Platform (TAP) which is the UK’s database for holding all tariff policy data.

We are advertising for a permanent EO role in the team to support the operational delivery of HMG’s tariff policies. The successful candidate will need to support the team and help ensure the effective implementation of UK tariff policy.

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the team’s shared mailbox, responding to stakeholder queries, including engaging with other government departments.
  • Maintain and upkeep workflow and process guidance.
  • Supporting the team with priority setting and work planning.
  • Supporting the delivery of UK tariff policy onto the UK border systems.
  • Developing strong and positive relations across DBT, Whitehall and with external stakeholders.
  • Conducting audit work on the UK Tariff, working with and manipulating large pieces of data.
  • Meeting governance, including taking minutes, collating and sharing agendas,
  • General team administration
