Temporary Maintenance Technician – Electrician/Plumber x 8 – Housing

Pay Rate: £15.17 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, 8am to 4pm

Role Length: This opening assignment is for 7-8 months

City: Tredomen, Wales

Plumbers and Electricians responsible for general maintenance and improvements to domestic and untenanted properties.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake more advanced diagnostic plumbing and electrical work and installations associated with repairs, maintenance and WHQS refurbishment, and ensure all building work undertaken is completed to an acceptable industry standard ie Gas Safe/NICEIC.
Pre-inspect and diagnose selected repair requirements via the Maintenance Schedule of Rates to identify required resources, materials and plant to undertake building maintenance / WHQS improvements works and ensure the efficient use of these resources.
Ensure that repairs and maintenance / WHQS improvement works are undertaken in a considerate manner within agreed timescales, meeting customer satisfaction and needs.
Maintain the required level of performance in respect of productive output, attendance, job completion deadlines, kept appointments and customer satisfaction to ensure value for money, quality of outputs to all service stakeholders and contribute towards the financial viability of Housing Repair Operations / WHQS Section.
Daily completion of job tickets and timesheets either electronically (via mobile device) or paper records, describing works undertaken in sufficient detail to assist in the calculation of performance and invoicing data.
Action the instructions and requirements relating to the delivery of a Housing Repair Operations / WHQS Section via the various methods adopted for work allocation.
Accurately record work undertaken via the Maintenance Schedule of Rates identifying relevant Schedule of Rates codes, actual working time, materials and plant used in the execution of Housing Repair Operations / WHQS section work.
Ensure the safe use and storage of plant and materials issued to the post holder in the course of their duties and where required ensure that materials issued or imprest material van stocks are maintained and replenished stock taking requirements.
Where required, collect materials, replenish van stocks, deliver to site and ensure that all residual waste materials arising from maintenance works / WHQS improvement works are taken from site and disposed of in accordance with service guidelines.

Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence to drive a Council vehicle.



Qualifications:

City and Guilds Basic Craft Certificate or an NVQ Level 2 qualification in relevant trade.
ACS competencies for Natural gas:-CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1
Electrical Installations IEE current Edition of the Wiring Regulations (City and Guilds 2382-18).
Inspection and Testing (City and Guilds 2391 or equivalent), (all to BS 7671).



Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Knowledge of relevant Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work and Health and Safety issues relating to the post.
Knowledge and experience in undertaking associated building trade skills.
Relevant experience within a contract environment for refurbishment, installation or new build environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
Ability to interpret and action technical instructions.
Ability to utilise technology in the workplace.
Ability to operate in a multi-task, multi-functional environment and perform designated jobs or multi-functional tasks.
Able to maintain minimum standards identified by foreman or line manager.
Must possess good diagnostic skills and experience to pre-inspect and diagnose requirements for repairs or new domestic, commercial and industrial installations or refurbishments.
