This is an exciting opportunity bridging discovery and clinical research of virus immunology in state-of-the-art UCL IIT and RF.


Supervised by Dr Fink, the postholder willprocess primary samples, andundertake original research,performing analyses and experiments on patient specimensas part of ongoing research projects within the Fink lab and IIT.The postholder willassistin management of the Fink lab.Key active projects in the Fink lab focus on immunophenotypingthe interferon signalling pathwaysofprimary immune cellsin populations with impaired anti-viral immunity and vaccine responses (older populations, people living with chronic virus infections, and people living with organ failure).

The applicant will also receive training in the high-throughput Gyros immunoassay technology. Experience of flow cytometry would bevery valuableto anypotential applicant although there will be opportunity to learn these skills ina state-of-the-artimmunologyinstitution.





The rolewill provide technical support between the clinical site of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (RFL) and the Fink lab based within the neighbouringInsituteof Immunity and Transplantation(IIT).The role holder will work closely with the immunology and virology research groups within the IIT, and diverse clinical collaborators including liver and renal transplant units, virology,hepatologyand the Ian Charleson Day Centre.

The Fink lab forms part of the Institute of Immunity and Transplantation (Pears Building) within the Division of Infection and Immunity, UCL. The Institute of Immunity and Transplantation (IIT) brings together a critical mass of more than 20 world-class research groups working at the forefront of translational immunology. Work within the IIT aims to translate advances in the understanding of the immune system to improved therapies for patients. The Institute’s close links to the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust provides an excellent interface between science and medicine.
