Crynodeb

Overview

Do you develop evidence based and innovative public health projects and evaluate your work?

Do you have a track record of working in partnership across organisations to make changes, find solutions and make a difference for local populations?

Buckinghamshire Council is looking for a Public Health Practitioner to join its Public Health team.

About us

Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.

The Council is an innovative and high performing organisation, and public health is embedded in the council’s core business.

Buckinghamshire is generally more affluent and as a result has better health outcomes than the national average. There are however significant inequalities across the county, and the population is ageing.

About the role

We are looking to recruit into a full time Public Health Practitioner post on a permanent basis. A new multiagency Healthy Ageing Strategy and action plan has just been approved for Buckinghamshire. This role will be responsible for developing and delivering an effective range of evidence based and innovative public health programmes for Healthy Ageing that will support the delivery of the new Strategy.

The successful postholder will work with other local authority services areas, other service providers both in the NHS and voluntary and community sector, the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities and other relevant national and area leads to maximise health improvement and reduce inequalities in health.

The post will be part of a wider team of Public Health Practitioners.

About you

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in Public Health related posts and have a first degree and postgraduate qualification in an area related to health promotion and/or public health, or at least three years’ experience in posts related to health promotion and/or public health, either in a local authority, NHS or voluntary sector setting.

You will also be willing and able to change your work areas according to the needs of the Public Health Department.

We offer flexible working and opportunities for continuing professional development, including support to work towards registration on the UK Public Health Register as a Public Health Practitioner.

For full details about the role, please see job summary attached.
