Overview

Buckinghamshire Council’s Street Scene Team delivers street cleansing and grounds maintenance services across Aylesbury Vale and is currently recruiting for a HGV Sweeper Driver. This role is essential in delivering front-line services, ensuring local areas are clean and safe for residents and visitors to the area.

About the role

You will be responsible for providing front-line Street Cleansing services. You will be reliable, have a ‘can do’ attitude and a commitment to working safely.

Key Accountabilities

Responsibilities will include:

Driving and operating mechanical sweepers

Vehicle inspections/checks and operator maintenance

Complying with health and safety policies and procedures

Use of specialist equipment

Sweeping and litter picking of designated area’s of highway

Ensuring accurate paperwork and records are completed.

Other duties include (but are not limited to), public bin emptying, cleansing of car parks, collection of fly-tipped waste and seasonal work such as leaf clearance and winter maintenance.

Street cleansing services are provided between the hours of 06.00 and 18.00 and some weekend and bank holiday work will be required. The shift pattern will be either 06.00 to 14.30 or 07.00-15.30.

About you

Minimum 2 years of LGV driving experience, LGV Class C License.

Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)

Experience of mechanical sweeper driving desirable.

Experience of operating vehicle mounted cranes

Full training will be provided and you will be required to demonstrate Buckinghamshire Council values, representing the Council whilst working in public areas.

The work is outdoors all year round, and work will take place in all weather conditions. All personal protective equipment and clothing will be provided.
