Publica is seeking an experienced Senior Electoral Services Officer to join our team and assist West Oxfordshire District Council in ensuring the smooth running of elections, election registration, and associated activities. The successful candidate will have the technical skills and abilities necessary to implement the requirements of the Elections Act 2022.
About the role…
Responsibilities will include:

Provide technical expertise, advice, and direction in all types of elections, referendums, and electoral registration.
Apply a high level of expert knowledge within the area of elections, referendums, and electoral registration to manage sensitive, open-ended, and complex case or project-based work.
Stay up to date with the latest developments, regulations, and legislation related to elections and electoral registration.
Assist with the management and coordinate elections, election registration, and associated activities.
Utilise election management software and systems effectively to ensure accurate and efficient processes.
Analyse and interpret complex data and information related to elections and voting patterns.
Liaise with stakeholders including council members, candidates, and the public, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Assist with the recruitment and training for all election staff appointment by the Returning Officer
Have a can-do attitude, and to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during peak election periods.

You will need…

Experience of working flexibly as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders
Experience of being involved in continuously improving services and developing products to meet customer need
Ability to remain calm and confident when dealing with challenging customers and environments
Ability to resolve complex issues by negotiation
Deliver commitments and take ownership of own caseload, reshaping of plans to deliver required outcomes
