Job Description

Job Title: Senior/Manager Counsellor
Salary: £40,221 per year (pro rata)
Hours of Work: 4 days a week
Duration of Contract: Permanent
Responsible To: Operational Manager
Responsible for: Three part-time counsellors/psychotherapists and a team of volunteer counsellors/psychotherapists.


Job Summary

The post-holder will be required to work in a confidential setting and provide non directive support to improve mental health and social functioning of women who are experiencing different forms of gender based violence. The post-holder will be professionally trained, accredited and work within the BACP/BPS Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018) or equivalent.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide a service in line with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) guidelines or equivalent.
• To support the management team with the strategic development of IKWRO’s counselling services.
• The provision of effective and high-quality Counselling and Psychotherapy services to IKWRO’s clients through making use of up to date service standards and IKWRO’s Counselling Guidelines.
• To agree a counselling contract with IKWRO’s clients and provide a timely, responsive and appropriate service.
• Carrying out a small one to one clinical caseload and/or depending on the team’s clinical capacity.
• To manage waiting lists according to the level of risk, delivery plans and organisational priorities.
• To manage the delivery against targets and in accordance with contract requirements.
• To lead, line manage and develop the counselling services staff as required.
• To do the clinical supervision of Associate Counsellors and trainees.
• Helping clients work towards a deeper understanding of their concerns;
• Maintain clients’ records ensuring accordance with IKWRO’s policies particularly as they relate to confidentiality and data protection.
• Making appropriate referrals and signposting to other services if needed;
• Attending clinical individual supervision, managerial supervision and training courses;
• Liaising, as necessary, with other agencies and individuals to help make changes based on the issues raised by clients;
• Liaising with IKWRO’s staff.
• Maintaining and updating accurate digital records of all cases and up to date monitoring and evaluation databases as well as writing reports.
• Experienced in delivering a variety of therapeutic interventions from different therapeutic modalities such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Psychodynamic, Existential and Humanistic therapy.

Staff management
1. To supervise other counsellors clinically and managerially.
2. Holding regular team meetings, ensuring communication and continuous service development.
3. Establishing and supporting staff and volunteers in maintaining the scope of IKWRO’s Counselling and Psychotherapy service, working towards their professional development building their clinical capacity and motivation (for e.g. mentoring, shadowing, delivering group work sessions)
4. Overseeing that the Counselling and Psychotherapy team are adequately supervised by a registered and competent clinical supervisor on a regular basis and in compliance with the BACP requirements.
5. Working with Service Manager, to agree staff annual leave and staff work plans.
6. Attending meetings relating to the counselling service.
7. Keeping records and writing reports within the deadline
Other duties
• Being involved in the promotion of IKWRO’s services, such as contributing to the annual report;
• Representing IKWRO at meetings, seminars and conferences as requested;
• Attending all approved training courses;
• Undertaking evening and weekend work as required;
• Undertaking all duties in line with IKWRO’s equal opportunities and confidentiality policy;
• Being responsible for the safety of the building and undertake all duties in line with Health and Safety;
• Attending staff meetings and where requested management committee meetings;
• To participate in IKWRO’s Annual General Meeting, True Honour’s Awards and other relevant organisational events.
Undertake any other duties as may be required on occasion.

Essential Desirable
Attributes & Requirements
1 Must be a woman, (Section 7.2 9e SDA 1975 applies).
2 Experienced in delivering a variety of therapeutic interventions from different therapeutic modalities

Be willing to travel if required
4 Must hold a qualified registration with a regulating body such as BPS, BACP or UKCP or equivalent.

Experience
1 A Professional Psychology or Counselling Qualification to Doctorate or Master’s Degree level or equivalent
2
Extensive experience of one to one counselling & psychotherapy ( at least 500hrs)
