The Opportunity:
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with a passion for animals and the drive to make a difference. We are a large veterinary and teaching hospital with a great team of vets, nurses and assistants who are all committed to animal health and welfare. This is a demanding out of hours role and requires dedication, proactivity, flexibility, a resilient work ethic and a strong belief in delivering the highest standard of patient care.
We are seeking a candidate who is interested in all aspects of hospitalised animal care such as kennel cleaning, infection control, feeding inpatients, laundry, walking dogs, assisting vets and vet nurses with procedures on dogs, cats, and exotics, grooming and general day to day patient care.
You will work in our out of hours team, covering 4 night shifts on, and then having 8 nights off. You will be expected to help cover for the other night ACAs holidays and other periods of absence, accruing paid overtime for any additional hours worked. The shifts are 12 hours long; with one hour of paid lunch.
You will be required to work a share of the public holidays over the Christmas period, should your shifts fall on those dates.
Even though this is a night-based position, we offer a full 6-8 week training programme where you will shadow our friendly and experienced staff to learn the ropes. Initial training shifts will routinely be based Monday-Friday working 8.30am-5pm, all additional hours worked above salaried hours will be paid as overtime.
Your skills and attributes for success:
Experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is essential.
Ability to proactively work alone as well as part of a team is essential.
