The team's purpose is to equip our students with the skills, knowledge and attributes required to navigate the challenges and opportunities in learning, life and work.
Progress coaching is a fundamental part of the Activate learner journey.
As a progress coach your role will be split between whole class & 1:1 tutorials across all faculties.
Whole Class Personal Development Session
60% of your time will be dedicated to facilitating whole class personal development tutorials to a broad range of students across a variety of sectors. Your timetable will hold up to 18 groups per week of varying sizes across all levels of study offered.
1:1 & Group Coaching
For the additional time you will deliver 1-1 and group coaching sessions to provide targeted and focused interventions to a caseload of students from your tutorial cohort. Coaching aims relating to students' learning behaviours and academic success, relationships, and career pathway enable them to progress to the next level of learning or employment whilst keeping them engaged to achieve.
We have a diverse student population and require someone who can assist learners with building attributes required to make progress, specifically self-awareness and resilience and who can develop student decision making and confidence skills.
A fundamental part of this role is to work closely with students who are experiencing difficulties in managing their behaviour and therefore may require behavioural coaching using a positive behaviour management framework.
The role will necessitate strong record-keeping and working with other student support services as well as communicating closely with faculty staff. Commitment to safeguarding principles and policies, as well as integrity, professional boundaries, and personal responsibility are paramount.
This is a permanent, term-time role (0.88 FTE), working 37.5 hours per week at our Reading College campus.
