An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Care of Elderly Specialist Occupational Therapist to clinically lead our In-patient (non-acute) units in West London. If you are a Senior Occupational Therapist, either Band 6 or 7, who has an interest in Older People, wants a new challenge, and is looking to lead and develop a team, this post must be ideal for you.

The West London NHS Trust, Older People Service Line provides excellent care to those who are experiencing cognitive impairment and those over 70s who have other mental health needs. The service line covers London Boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow. The in-patient units; Jubilee ward and The Limes are both located in Ealing and Meridian ward at Hammersmith.

The post holder will support the delivery of high quality care to patients across the three in-patient units. As Specialist Occupational Therapist, they will provide comprehensive and holistic assessments, interventions, and care planning for those patients having complex physical and mental health needs. They will carry a defined caseload of patients with complex needs. They will supervise B6/ B5 OT who are based at all 3 sites. The role also provides an excellent opportunity to work with an OT apprentice in Inpatients unit to support the service.

As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, they will be responsible for supervision, training and development of the occupational therapy staff in these units, as well as contributing to departmental and Trust improvements. They will ensure the occupational therapy services in the in-patients are evidence based, and delivered with compassion and in person-centered manner.

The Post holder will support the OT Professional Lead in service development and audit to evidence efficiency and efficacy. They will work closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team including other AHP colleagues to ensure a high quality of care is maintained at all times.

They will be an integral part of the senior clinical team and also a part of the wider occupational therapy team across the service line.

Learning and personal development is encouraged and we have a well-established appraisal system and funding for relevant external and internal courses.
