Job title: Personal Assistant (PA)

Reporting to: The Employer

Location: Rubery, B45

Job purpose:
To assist with a variety of tasks which will assist the employer who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.

About the employer:
Our client is Bright, creative, athletic, and stubbornly independent young lady with Cerebral Palsy (affecting all limbs and speech). Witty with great sense of humour, who’s life has challenged her in so many ways. As a result, she faces grief and depression which trigger’s Non-Epileptic Seizures. This is different from epilepsy and will be explained further. Lives in own home, awaiting adaptations for her friend (currently in rehabilitation centre) to rejoin her.

Main duties:
Social duties:
 Keep in touch and socialise with family and friends.
 Attend medical appointments when required.
 Support to access the local community.

Personal care: support with personal care when required.

Domestic duties: food preparation & eating supervision, support to maintain a hygienic & safe home, support to access the community (appointments, shopping, social settings). All whilst aiming to maintain good physical/mental health; independence to be encouraged throughout daily living.

These duties may vary from day-to-day.

Type of person that you/they are looking for:
 Values someone that is honest, reliable, punctual, non-judgemental, ability to build good relationships based on trust and respect, flexible, adaptable, easy going, able to work alone, positive, willingness to travel, understands equality and diversity.

 Specific requirements: Hold a full UK driving license (manual) and be comfortable with Motorway driving. Client has a Medium/Large Wheelchair Adapted Van.
Have reasonable flexibility on the occasion support duration/time alternatively throughout a seven-day week. This will always be discussed beforehand.
Preferably a fun but calm, enthusiastic, female with initiative over 30; however younger applicants & other genders would be considered.

Be completely comfortable around animals (dogs especially).

Hours of work: 7.5 hours per week – Friday – Sunday.

Rate of pay: £12.50 per hour.

Skills, qualifications, and experience
Essential:
 driving licence.
 car and appropriate insurance.
 knowledge of a particular language or culture.
 likes dogs.
 Confidentiality.
 good at building relationships.

Preferred:
 previous experience of caring either professionally or personally.
 good communicator.
 a good listener.
 ability to support people with complex care & support needs.

Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.

This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
