To be a leading systems engineer in support of the UHP computer server systems infrastructure operational functions, including:: Microsoft Active Directory (inc. DNS, Group Policy, and Authentication) Windows Server platforms inc. MS SQL Server Windows and SQL failover clustering (including SQL Availability Groups) VMware and/or Nutanix AHV Dell PowerScale (Isilon) and File Sharing WSUS / Ivanti Security Controls Linux and Unix operating systems Citrix and Windows Terminal Servers CommVault backups Server Hardware Web Servers (IIS/Apache) Automation (Administrative scripting languages e.g PowerShell) Microsoft Office 365 Extensive knowledge of system technologies, concepts, tools and practices, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, S/FTP. To assist in managing the Trusts Computer Rooms including: Access / Security / Tidiness Environment issues heat and power usage Planned Power shutdowns Disposal of redundant equipment To analyse, investigate and resolve highly complex queries, problems and users requirements of the computer server system infrastructure, liaising with the Telecoms and Software Development professionals where necessary. To introduce, adapt, test, improve, repair and maintain the computer server system infrastructure equipment ensuring that equipment operating system and software/firmware are at the correct revision level, completing Change Management Requests where necessary. Assisting system suppliers with operating system, database, and application upgrades. To configure both the hardware and software of expensive computer server system infrastructure equipment, ensuring appropriate access control and management of the secure server systems. To ensure the maximum availability of the computer server system infrastructure including Disaster Recovery planning and implementation involving out of hours work where necessary. To input and manipulate data to the computer server system infrastructure equipment and the IT databases. To input and manipulate data to, and create reports from, various server system analysis tools including the production of system downtime reports. To provide specialist advice, implement, enforce, monitor, report incidents and assist the investigation into breaches of the IT security policies, ensuring safe and appropriate use of computer server system resources.
