Crynodeb
As a Field Officer you will create a better place for everyone to live by helping agricultural and rural communities thrive and protecting the environment for future generations. It is a physically demanding role as you could be walking several miles across different terrains - whatever the weather - as well as working closely with cattle, sheep, and pigs.
Our Field Officers have a varied and challenging role. You will:
conduct visits to farmers’ premises for a variety of reasons including providing advice and guidance to help to ensure that farmers understand how to meet various scheme or regulatory requirements
assess the validity and compliance of claims that have been made under the various schemes
undertake a variety of tasks such as measuring land and checking landscape features and equipment using GPS based technology
work closely with cattle, sheep, and pigs checking ear tags to ensure births, deaths, movements, and tagging requirements are met; whilst continuously managing, and assessing, the risks this brings
be required as part of a multi-skilled team to visit food premises or meat processing plants
prepare for visits in advance, ensuring you have all the information you require, and follow up with written reports detailing your findings and providing advice and guidance
This is a great opportunity to make a difference to future of the UK agriculture and start a green career in a modern, innovative, and inclusive Civil Service.
