Job Description:

As a Room Leader or Deputy Manager at Puffins Childcare, you will play a vital role in nurturing the physical, emotional, and cognitive development of children aged from 4 months to 5 Years. You will create a nurturing and stimulating nursery environment, plan and implement age-appropriate activities, and build strong relationships with children and their families. Your responsibilities will include:


• Support the Manager in ensuring the effective daily management of the setting in accordance with Company Policy, the Early Years Foundation Stage, the Children’s Act 1989, and other relevant legislation, and all local authority and OFSTED requirements.
• Co-ordinate and support Apprentices and Work Experience pupils and liaise with schools and clubs as necessary.
• Ensure the safety, security and wellbeing of all children registered with the setting.
• Monitor and ensure all agreed Company quality and safety standards in the setting at all times.
• To lead and develop a team of staff using current best practice models of leadership and management and inline with Company Management Competencies.
• Ensure strong links with and the involvement of parents, recognising that parents are their Children’s first educators.
• Participate in and oversee the Keyworker system and be responsible for a group of children.
• Ensure the required standards, ratios and conditions of registration are maintained at all times.
• Maintain accurate and up to date records for all children including attendance registers, emergency contact numbers etc.
• Ensure activities and care are developmentally appropriate and in which children from a range of social, economic and cultural backgrounds are able to develop and grow, in particular those with special educational needs and English as an additional language.
• Monitor, assess, record and report on children’s development and progress, both individually and in groups.
• Be aware of Safeguarding issues and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Participate in professional development and training, which will include out of hours training and staff meetings.

• Curriculum Implementation: Implement the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum that promotes learning through play and exploration.

• Child Development: Observe and assess children's developmental progress, providing individualised support and guidance as needed.

• Safety and Well-being: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care, following health and safety guidelines rigorously.

• Parent Communication: Maintain open and regular communication with parents, sharing updates on children's progress and addressing any concerns.

• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.

• Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in early childhood education through ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Level 3 Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Early Years Educator.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young children in a childcare or educational setting.

• Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Paediatric First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

• A clear enhanced DBS check.
