About the job

We are currently searching for Clinical psychologists all
over the UK. You will be part of one of the largest networks of independent
expert witnesses, operating from over 200 clinics across the UK, with over 48
clinical psychologists. With more than 12 years of expertise in the medico
legal sector, we provide services of the highest calibre and uphold our
dedication to excellence.

About the role

- You'll work as part of a
multidisciplinary team alongside doctors, nurses, social workers,
education professionals, health visitors, psychiatrists and occupational
therapists
- Jobs are available in
most cities and large towns, with fewer opportunities in rural areas.
Self-employment or freelance work is possible in private or clinical
practice, and for industrial or commercial consultancy.
- The work can be
challenging as it involves contact with many different types of people who
are often distressed in some way. Occasionally, you might encounter
situations of potential personal risk.
- Supervision by
colleagues is important throughout your career.



Responsibilities



- assess your clients'
needs, abilities or behaviour using a variety of methods, including
psychometric tests, interviews and direct observation of their behaviour
- Plan, monitor and adapt
appropriate treatment programmes and interventions, including therapy,
counselling or advice, in collaboration with colleagues offer therapy and
treatments for issues relating to a range of mental health conditions
evaluate the efficacy and outcome of treatments
- Provide consultation to
other members of the multidisciplinary team, encouraging a psychological
approach in their work
- Counsel and support
carers develop and evaluate service provision for clients
- Provide clinical
supervision to less experienced psychologists and members of the wider
multidisciplinary team provide psychology teaching and training to other
members of the team.
- More experienced
clinical psychologists may be called on to write legal reports and act as
expert witnesses. In these cases, you'll keep

Requirements

- Doctoral level training
in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology,
clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct
psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as
accredited by the BPS.
- Registration with the
Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Enhanced Disclosure and
Barring Service (DBS) check (Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme
in Scotland)
- You'll need relevant
work experience, often a minimum of 12 month
- Excellent communication
and interpersonal skills in order to deal with people in distress
- Empathy and a
person-centered approach to client
- The ability to apply
your knowledge of academic psychology and research to clinical problems
- The ability to recognize
your own limitations and respond to difficult situations
- The ability to
collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines
- Time management and
prioritization skills
- Good general IT skills
