Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen at CUH to be part of and lead the Neonatal feeding team. The Rosie hospital NICU is a tertiary centre caring for up to 40 babies with a range of medical and surgical needs. Many of these infants have long and complex feeding journeys therefore you should have a deep understanding of the Neonatal journey and the challenges families encounter.

You will be required to support infant feeding practices within NICU and Transitional care settings working with both Neonatal and Maternity staff as well as the MDT. You will be a highly motivated and passionate about providing high quality Neonatal care. Within the role you will be required to carry out audits; actively and independently collect and present data and findings at stakeholder meetings.

You should have a good understanding of the UNICEF baby friendly initiative (BFI) as they will be required to lead and drive the Neonatal Unit to full accreditation.

Opportunities for personal learning and development will be encouraged once in role as well as contribution to unit wide teaching for all staff. The B7 role will have line management responsibilities including carrying out appraisals, sickness and performance management of the team.

You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and utilise these to enhance patient care and experience.

Responsible for co-ordinating the implementation of UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) Neonatal Unit Standards in order to achieve BFI Neonatal accreditation, following BFI Neonatal Unit Guidance. The purpose is to improve outcomes for babies and families’ experience. The standards are: · Support parents to have a close and loving relationship with their baby · Enable babies to receive breast milk and to breastfeed when possible · Value parents as partners in care
