Would you like to work in an exciting, dynamic and constantly progressing patient centred role with a supportive team? We are looking for an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist at band 8a level to co-lead and develop our leading-edge tertiary level Dermatology Service in OUH with around 50,000 patients under their care. This is a year-long post to cover maternity leave. This post would also suit band 7 pharmacists who are looking for a development post for a band 7 to 8a progression
This is a rewarding role where you will be able to have a positive impact on patient’s physical and psychological wellbeing. As your expertise and knowledge grow, you will be instrumental in Dermatology Outpatient Clinics, managing ongoing therapies as an independent non-medical prescriber (after gaining this qualification if not already gained). The continuous growth in novel immunomodulatory drugs in Dermatology will give you exposure and experience in the implementation of new therapies and the related governance, finance and risk management skills as well as furthering your clinical and leadership skills.
Both our Dermatology and Pharmacy teams have close integration with academic institutions. You will have the best possible platform to blend research into your work. You will have a chance to work in the new Northgate Health Centre that hosts a GP practice and clinics from
a number of hospital specialities.
• • Provide a holistic, specialist pharmaceutical care service to patients attending Dermatology clinics, to include:• Providing advice and counselling on biologic and high risk therapies
• Ensuring continuity of supply of specialist an homecare therapies
• Review patients as part of a pharmacist led consultation which may include prescribing medication, ordering & interpreting blood tests and corresponding with GPs.
• Establish and monitor compliance with shared care protocols for the appropriate delegation of prescribing and monitoring to primary care.
• Maintain records of patients on biologic therapies and assist with monitoring such as BlueTeq to ensure compliance with NICE and commissioning guidelines
• Maintain and develop the Homecare service for Dermatology patients.
• Manage of Medicines Safety issues related to Dermatology and ensure compliance.eg Pregnancy Prevention Programme for oral retinoids, MHRA paraffin containing emollients alert
• Provide specialised professional and technical education and training to enable the clinical units to meet high standards of patient care and safety.
• Promote, monitor and improve the safe and cost-effective use of medicines within Dermatology through regular communication and feedback to achieve high standards of medicines related aspects of patient care.

To be successful you will need excellent communication skills and an ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. You will share Oxford University Hospital’s vision and values whilst having sound clinical knowledge developed through a diploma in pharmacy practice or equivalent alongside a broad range of clinical pharmacy experience. Band 8a candidates should have prior experience in Dermatology and have completed the Clinical Pharmacy Diploma (or equivalent) and the prescribing course. Candidates who do not have these qualifications will be considered for a band 7 to 8a progression
