We are currently seeking to appoint a Finance Director (FD) with experience in the not for profit sector and who is a holder of a CCAB recognised accountancy qualification and who has significant post-qualifying experience at senior level in a complex organisation.
Based at our site in Harpenden, Herts, the role will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) acting as the principal financial adviser and providing strategic leadership of the institute’s finances. As a key member of the CEO’s executive team and working alongside the CEO in the reporting to the Rothamsted Board this role will ensure the Institute’s research and support capabilities are resourced lead on the formation of task groups and project board as and when required and used to their full potential.
The FD will be a skilled people manager and leader with responsibility for fifteen staff falling within the Finance, Procurement and Assurance functions. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on team player leading on the annual financial budgeting, forecasting and statutory accounting cycles and taking a proactive role with cash management. An ability to successfully communicate, challenge and influence effectively across a range of non-financial stakeholders, senior colleagues and external stakeholders whilst also building trust and confidence is prerequisite.
