The Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for a secondment to the role of the Mental Health Law Team Lead, this role will require a self-motivated and passionate person who is able to demonstrate strong communication and management skills which will allow them to successfully support the members of the Mental Health Law Team across multiple sites.

Alongside strong leadership skills the successful candidate will require extensive working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act to be able to offer expert advice to professionals across the Trust to support best practice and improve compliance with legislation.

The Hospital Manager’s retain the ultimate responsibility for the execution of all duties or acts carried out by staff in relation to the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983 including ensuring that the grounds for detaining patients are valid and legal. The Mental Health Act Team Lead has a role in developing, managing and maintaining processes and systems to support the MHL Administrator’s compliance with the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and the associated Codes of Practice.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
