Our stroke services are growing- including the much-anticipated opening of a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit.
We are looking for a Ward Clerk to join us on this amazing journey of expansion and growth, bringing new opportunities to the stroke unit.
The stroke unit boasts the most friendly and welcoming team atmosphere with fantastic opportunities to progress your career.
The 24 bedded Acute Stroke Unit cares for patients requiring close monitoring and observation, encompassing acute care skills, following thrombolysis and repatriation following specialist intervention such as thrombectomy as well as patients requiring rehabilitation needs.
You would be joining us at such an exciting time in an area that will give you the chance to quickly expand your knowledge in a fast paced but supportive environment. There are so many reasons to join us.
• Assist in the welcome and reception of new patients.
• Support nurses in dealing with relatives and offering practical help, i.e. car park permit/providing directions to other departments.
• Escort conscious patients, as appropriate.
• Liaise with Ambulance/Transport control regarding patients requiring transport to and from the Units.
• Collect and deliver equipment, stores and specimens to other departments.
• Report any concerns, complaints, comments or requests for information by patients or visitors immediately to the Senior nurse on duty.
• Telephone and face to face enquires from patients, relatives and staff are dealt with courteously, professionally and with understanding and actions taken as appropriate, with consultation with clinical staff.
• Clerical support such as photocopying when requested by team.
• Printing off the patient Electronic Discharge Summaries as required and alerting nurses if they have not been produced.
• Use initiative to deal with patient/staff enquires and assists in problem solving including missing patient notes.
• Deal with enquires and implement procedures guided by standard operating practices, protocols and policies.
